During road trips, we often run into arguments over music. So to avoid this, audio manufacture HARMAN announced something big in International CES 2015.
A new technology upgrade is introduced by this well known brand called "Individual Sound Zones" (ISZ) that basically removes unwanted noise while personalizing and enhancing the sounds that passengers want to hear.
With the help of this gadget, separate listening zones are created inside a car's cabin by placing small speakers in the headrests and also just above the occupant's head. Cross talks between different sections are eliminated by improved signal processing. Each sound zone has independent volume controls and the interruptions including phone calls and navigation prompts are only routed to driver's sound zone.
ISZ is an innovative acoustic design and compatible digital signal processing that promotes speaker directivity and minimizes crosstalk in and between the zones in a vehicle. It utilizes a vehicle’s existing speakers with the support of headrest speakers equipped with micro speaker technology.
This gadget can’t cancel out every audio signal for the reason of safety, but by
customizing the passenger zones, Harman’s system reduces sonic clutter
for an experience known as ‘the ultimate personalized car
audio experience.’
Individual Sound Zones can be installed into any Harman in-car sound system via amplifier. This gadget is available to all automakers now.
